Now filers and saw doctors are able to make new band saw gauges and straight edges or regrind worn gauges in their own saw shops.  The Armstrong gauge grinder quickly and accurately grinds saw gauges up to 24" long.  Both concave and convex gauges can be made on this grinder which was developed from a design provided by Jim Reid, head filer at Pope and Talbot's mill in Port Gamble, Washington.

Infinite adjustment of the grinder for tension gauges from 20 feet to 200 feet circles is controlled by a front mounted, knurled handwheel.  A second handwheel positions the grinding wheel for various widths of gauges.  Straight edges can be made as well as band saw tension gauges.  The grinder is not designed for "RPM" gauges used on circular saws.

The gauge grinder comes complete with rigid cast iron base and precision ground steel ways for years of accurate work.  The motor is supplied standard for either 110 volt, single phase, 60 Hz current or 240 volt, single phase 50 hz current (please specify when ordering).  A transformer for operation on 240/1/50 electric current is available at an extra cost.  Two 6" diameter grinding wheels with safety guards are incorporated into the design.
