The Armstrong stationary band and gang saw stretcher rolls are of compact design but have been built to withstand steady, hard use, and the extreme pressure required to tension saws uniformly and quick.

FOR BAND RESAWS
No. 2 Stationary Band Saw Stretcher Roll
For saws 8" wide and less
Not recommended for saws over 17 gauge

All bearings and wearing surfaces are of ample size to meet hard use where the machines are subjected to severe working strains. Extreme care is taken to insure that all wearing surfaces are fitted properly, and in correct relation to other working parts. Bearings are heavy and accurately machined so as to be in proper alignment which is important in a machine for this work.

Suitable adjustments are provided where necessary, and are easily accessible, permitting ease of operation as well as accurate control of the proper degree of tension to be rolled into the saw.

In designing this stretcher roll, as with other Armstrong filing room equipment, one thing has been kept in mind – to provide a machine to do the job satisfactorily, with the least amount of time and effort of the operator.

COMPACST DESIGN OF ARMSTRONG STATIONARY STRETCHER ROLLS EMBODIES OUTSTANDING FEATURES

  1. The rolls are made to extract specifications of a special high grade, tempered tool steel, ground accurately and to a uniform crown.
  2. Drive gears are enclosed and provided with an oil reservoir so they run in oil.
  3. Rolls can be easily removed for regrinding.
  4. Roll bearings are anti-friction type, easily replaced when necessary.
  5. Pressure screw is provided with ball thrust, for sensitive action on the saw.
  6. Top roll is provided with spring to lift off the saw when pressure is released.
  7. The top roll is supported in perfect alignment with the lower roll.
  8. Rolls have provision for proper lubrication.
  9. The design provides a direct drive to the lower roll only which has proven very satisfactory on saws within the capacity of these stretcher rolls.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  1. Heavy duty anti-friction bearings and nylon thrust bearings, combined with rolls with hardened sleeves, provide greater precision, maximum life, and simpler maintenance.
  2. A heavy frame, and an open front similar to that used on punch process, make it easy to handle saws as wide as 10".
  3. The same large size rolls, and the same pressure screw with ball contact used in Amrstrong No. 4, 5 and 6 movable band saw stretchers are incorporated in this new roll, assuring all the sensitivity and long wear found in much larger machines.
  4. A 1 H.P. gearhead motor provides power for the heaviest tensioning.
  5. An entire new idea in roll mounting makes it possible to change a complete set of rolls, with no loss of alignment, in about three minutes average time – an important advantage to saw shops particularly.
  6. Since this is a stationary roll, with one roll driven, there are few wearing parts, and the drive is simplified.
  7. The No. 3-10 stretcher is available with an optional steel base as shown, or it can be mounted on the bench as desired. The steel base offers sturdy support and convenient motor mounting.
  8. Simplicity of design makes it possible to supply this new stretcher at very reasonable cost.
