This shear presents a rigid construction and cutting features that produces a machine
which will not only cut accurately and smoothly, but which is also fast and easy to operate.
Armstrong Band or Gang Saw Shear

A unique toggle system used in this shear creates a tremendous leverage between the lever and the shear knife, and at the same time makes possible a long travel of the shear knife. The customary methods of adding extensions to the lever and striking heavy hammer blows on the shear knife holder in order to make it cut are not required whit this shear. One person can easily cut the rated capacity of the shear in full length strokes in any metal such as saw steel, brass, copper or anything within its rated capacity.

HYDRAULIC OPTION AVAILABLE FOR EITHER 14" OR 18" SHEARS

An air-driven hydraulic unit can be supplied installed on either size shear at reasonable cost. These 10 ton units will quickly cut through the heaviest band or sash gang saw plates. Shears supplied with this hydraulic option operate on 80 to 100 PSI air supply and can be either hand or foot activated. All the features of the standard hand operated shears, including the movable truck and heavy duty construction, are found in the hydraulically powered units.

The smooth cutting and labor saving action of a hydraulic saw shear can be a big advantage in all saw factories and many larger saw shops and sawmills.
  • The shear blades are of high quality and are usable on all four corners, and may be resharpened many times before new ones are required.
  • The visibility for positioning the saw accurately to cut just where marked is very ample, and the locking screws for holding the saw in position are very effective.
  • It is fully equipped with convenient gauge for both shearing and cross cutting.
  • The frame is heavily constructed and properly trussed to eliminate all tendency to spring.

  • Trucks are supported at all four corners, providing stability. The powerful casters at handle end are convenient in placing shear in position and moving it about the fitting room.
